Briefing: DVD Formats & TV Broadcast February 19, 2008 THIS JUST IN... This morning Toshiba (leader of the HD-DVD camp) announced their exit of market. Sony has won the war. The adoption of new format will now begin in earnest, both in entertainment and IT sectors. ===================================== Per FCC laws, on Feb 17, 2009 (a year from today), all analog TV broadcast in the US will cease. If you have old TV sets that you intend to use, a signal converter and a new antenna would be required. You're on your own with the new antenna, but the government offers a $40 coupon to help offset the cost of signal converter.
